Navigator Program
Each year since 2013, the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) awards funding to organizations serving as Navigators in states with a Federally-facilitated Exchange (FFE or Federally-facilitated Marketplace (FFM)). Navigators help consumers find affordable health insurance through the Health Insurance Marketplace® via https://www.healthcare.gov/, run by the federal government.
CMS-funded organizations operate as Navigators year-round to conduct outreach and education in their communities. They raise awareness among the uninsured and underinsured consumers about the healthcare options available to them, help consumers enroll in affordable coverage that meets their needs, and assist them beyond the enrollment process (coverage to care1F2). Navigators make sure that consumers have the tools and resources they need to use and maintain their health coverage all year, including helping consumers resolve unauthorized enrollments or switching health plans.
